Control and direct the movement of trains, authorizing occupancy of the main track and sidings for train operations, track inspection and maintenance personnel.Interested applicants are encouraged to apply immediately. SCRRA Dispatchers, in addition to dispatching Metrolink trains, dispatch Amtrak's intercity trains, and BNSF and UP freight trains on SCRRA territories. All dispatchers are covered under the Railroad Retirement Act (RRA) and the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act. The RRB is an independent agency in the executive branch of the federal government. The Dispatching Operations Division is covered under the United States Railroad Retirement Board (RRB). Dispatch is a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operation. The scheduled hours of this position vary and will include days or nights any day of the week, including holidays. This position will dispatch trains, other vehicles/equipment that travel on the rail, and protect individuals who work on or near the track.
